Let your answering machine or voice mail answer 408 965 9464. The misleading caller ID will claim that the call is coming from SBC MESSAGING. The voice mail from this number will be a robotic apology for not being able to speak with you directly. It will then hang up with no further explanation. If you answer live, you will be solicited for donations to a firefighters fund. Very deceptive.

I answered the call. It's people collecting "donations for firefighters".

Spam fund raising call from Peace Officers Association. These people don't respect do not call list, and need to be shut down. Where is the FCC????? Plus, where does the money go that these guys raise.... be a very interesting question.....

We have received calls from this number almost daily in the last week or so claiming to be Police Association ... It even called my cell phone on Saturday morning. According to FCC rules: "Telephone solicitation calls to your home before 8 am or after 9 pm are prohibited." Probably a robocall discovering "live" phone numbers. Do a Google search on the number and you get 422 results, probably all complaints about the call with some quoting the message. Selecting this result, http://mrnumber.com/1-408-865-9464 , get you to Mr. Number which shows response details, and, at the top, a very fuzzy name, first, middle initial, last, followed by a green "Show Name" button. Click on that and you get to opportunity to pay $1.99 to see the name. Probably is as bogus as the original call. Probably created by Mr.Number. After all, it originates in Silicon Valley where Mr.Number probably exists.

Over 15 calls from this number, roughly one per day in November, all with caller ID "SBC Messaging" and the "technical difficulty" b.s. that others have mentioned on this page. I called the number back and it's a vague message about an "offer" in the "community" Absolute waste of time

The last four digits of the caller's number has changed over the last 18 months, but the useless and irritating message is the same (formerly ending in 9431 and 9414) - "Due to technical difficulty we are unable to talk to you. Goodbye" from SBC MESSAGING.

Definitely spam! Possibly fraud! They are spoofing their caller ID to show "Unknown"; "001"; "004"; and (another post states) "SBC MESSAGING". I have answered this call 1 time and was a solicitation for a "Police Fund". Other posts say Firefighters fund. I believe the operators of this number may be nothing more than scam artists!

This is from firefighters association. I think I had donated to them few times but with the way they harass you with constantly calling at dinner time and when you pick a robo voice says that it can't talk due to technical difficulty, I am thinking of raising funds to stop this menace. We are on do not call list so that doesn't bother these guys. Any ideas on how to get the real name/address of who is behind this?

Caller ID show "SBC Messaging" - voice say can't talk with me due to technical difficulties. Received this call several times and am concerned they are trying to determine if anyone is home...

Multiple calls from this phone number and I don't think once I've gotten a real person. Just the same message as others receive: "Due to tech difficulty we are unable to talk to you personally".

I get at least 3 calls a day from this number, identified as "SBC Messaging." Annoying.

This should be illegal, to harass a person's home phone number that I pay for... they have called almost every night for weeks now!

Have receive several calls over past month, 2 today... Concerned that they are trying to see if anyone is at home... Potentially casing the property of burglary or other fraud...

How do we stop this number from calling us?

mf-ers. I answered it live.. Then to get a recording apologizing that they cannot speak to me live. Then why the F did they call???

They call every night around 9 PM. I've called back and they are not pleasant or you get a random message saying they have the right to call because they are non-profit. I've asked to be removed from their call list several times and have someone looking into this. Bad idea to harass people at night. I'll never donate now.

this phone was a recorded sales call about selling tickets to a benefit show. Luckily I didn't answer the call and my phone # is blocked to prevent them from getting my number when I called them back.

Did not answer phone because we could see it was from SBC Messaging. I guess it's time to once again update that we do not want "UNWANTED" phone calls!

They have been calling relentlessly for past 2-3 months. Always robotic msg stating "due to tech diff blah blah blah. I have also tried to call back and they stated they have "function" in "area", but was too vague. I finally picked up today and someone was actually on the line claiming to be from the Deputy Sheriff (but didn't state which county???) asking for my husb only... very odd. I would say def don't give them any money, reeks like a scam!
