Left text message on cel phone: "AT&T Fee Msg: AT&T will never clay to ask for a PIN. Temp PIN 997936 to complete act change. If you did not request change call, 800 331 0500 ASAP." I did not request change and called that number but on a non-associated land line. After a few automated responses the call was transferred to several phones (I heard three different style of ring tones, one sounded distinctly different -european ring tone perhaps) and then a courteous woman with a slight accent asked for my cell phone # to reset the password. I then explained that I did not request the reset and she again asked for the cel # reassuring that she was indeed from AT&T. I refused and explained that I thought that this was a scam of some sort that appeared to be fronting itself through a legitimate AT&T phone line. I then looked up the number here shortly thereafter

I got a call from this number at 3:45 pm today. It was a male voice and he asked me who he was speaking to. I didn't give my name, just responded with "may I ask who's calling?". He hung up. I called the number back and got an ATT rep who verified it was an ATT line for cell phone service. I don't think an ATT rep would hang up when asked who or where they were calling from. Very weird indeed! I think there's a way to make you number show up as a different number than the one you are actually calling from. Maybe that's how they are doing this; to pretend to be ATT and get peoples information. I let my son use my debit card last night to have his phone turned on and the timing of the call makes me suspicious... I wonder if that's how they got my #. The ATT rep didn't seem concerned at all since 800-331-0500 is actually ATT....
