Alert popped up after opening a site. Said to call the number to resolve serious security issues and information breeches. Reverse dialed the number. It does not belong to Microsoft and there have been numerous complaints against it.

Got Virus Alert on my computer. Said I had an infection. Would not let me close it out. Kept telling me to Call "Microsoft" at this number. Suspected it was a scam and did not call. Turned off power to computer and re-started. Everything is fine Ran a virus scan. Nothing found. If I would have called they would have asked to take control of the computer remotely and would have then likely planted a virus and charged me to remove it. Do NOT call this number !

While browsing the internet, a screen suddenly poped up with a voice stating that I had a virus on my computer and I should: IMMEDIATELY call MICROSOFT (1888-382-7416) and I will be instructed on how to get rid of the virus. The voice kept repeating my personal information is at risk I should call before during any shopping online. I shut down my computer. I am searching for info about this number. Who is behind this?

I did not receive a call from this number. While searching the internet, I received this number within a pop-up window stating I have a virus installed and I should: IMMEDIATELY CALL MICROSOFT AT 1-888-382-7416 The message was constantly repeating and I was only able to close it by restarting my computer. After searching the number, I now see it's a scam

This is DEFINITELY the FTC's Do Not Call Registry's #: 888.382.1222—http://donotcall.gov. Why the negative reports—y'all should ID the # here and/or compare it to the one above or the website ? I registered my phones in 2005 which I found out when I just called. This # lets you [1] register a #; [2] check if you registered a #; [3] file a claim (after 31 days) against violators; and [4] listen to other options, including their privacy policy. Calling does NOT automatically register you!!!

Called stating I owed money from four years ago for payday loan. Called me through family member when I did not answer the call. Had my email, phone, prior address and part of my social security number. Said that this matter was going to court. I tried to call them out on the scam but felt threatened with court/legal actions if I did not agree to pay.Luckily I used a debit card and post dated the payments. I was able to cancel my card and prevent loss of money. However I am worried that these people have so much personal data of mine.

I did not receive a call from this number. I received this number within a pop-up window stating I have a virus installed and I should: IMMEDIATELY CALL MICROSOFT AT 1-888-382-7416 Then insistent nature of the warning message and only being able to close the pop-up window through Task Manager convinced me it was a bogus message.

This Sidney Greer left a message on my phone, my parents phone and my brothers! How she got their number I'd like to know! My dad called the sheriffs department and they told him to ignore it; it sounds like a scam. Seems to me they are just using the URS name to try to scare people since it's an actual agency.
Reported on Dec 2, 2015
Sounds like a scam to me - prerecorded message states: "My name Sidney Greer (?), calling you from the legal office of URS calling because you have been named a person of interest in regards to an ongoing investigation that’s attached to your name and social sec number. It is imperative we speak to you and get a statement on file, you or your attorney will need to contact the legal office of URS at 888-382-0092. If they do not hear from you further procedures will begin against you."
Reported on Dec 2, 2015
They are alleging to be from the law offices of URS and if you don't contact them back they will procede with procedures against you. Whatever.
